Using LAPEL Notes
These terms cover LAPEL Notes and lapelnotes.com. The iPhone app is licensed under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement unless a different licence is supplied with your purchase. These product terms supplement that agreement; they do not replace Apple’s terms or mandatory rights under applicable law.

Record responsibly
You are responsible for having the permission and legal authority needed to record, import, process and share a conversation. Tell participants when recording and obtain any consent required where you and they are located. A consent reminder in the app does not obtain consent on your behalf.
Use the app lawfully and respect other people’s privacy, confidentiality and intellectual-property rights. You retain your rights in the content you create or import.
Check the words that matter
Transcription, speaker identification, summaries and answers can contain errors or omit context. Check important details against the original recording. Generated output is not professional advice and must not be your sole basis for decisions with significant consequences.
Source links and audio fingerprints help you trace a record. They do not certify accuracy, authenticity, legal admissibility or professional privilege.
Your device, your copies
You are responsible for securing your device and choosing appropriate retention, export and backup settings. The vault does not automatically sync to iCloud or device backup. Keep an encrypted backup and its recovery key if you need a recoverable copy. We cannot recover a lost vault key or backup recovery key.
Deleting a recording does not revoke copies already shared or exported. Managed devices may apply organisation-specific retention, processing or export restrictions.
Optional Ollama processing sends text to the server you select. You are responsible for choosing a server and model suitable for your content and for complying with their terms. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions and purchases
Available plans, prices, billing periods and any trial terms are shown before you confirm a purchase. Apple handles App Store billing. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled under the terms shown at purchase.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account’s subscription settings and restore eligible purchases in the app. See Apple’s cancellation instructions. Refund requests for Apple purchases are handled through Apple’s refund process, subject to applicable consumer rights.
Compatibility and availability
Version 1.0.0 requires iOS 26 or later. On-device summaries and answers also require a supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled and available for your language and region. Recording and transcription run locally. Features may vary with device capability, permissions, model availability and organisation policy.
We may maintain, update or change the app and website. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Any limitations of warranty or liability remain subject to the applicable app licence and the law. Nothing in these terms excludes consumer guarantees or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The website and these terms
The website’s guided conversation is an illustrative, synthetic example. It does not make a live recording or run an AI request. LAPEL branding, site artwork and software remain protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.
We may revise these terms as the service changes. The date above identifies this version. Where required, we will notify you of material changes before they take effect.
